April 2011 – archaeological field survey – 2nd stage

The survey began on 20 April 2011 and will continue for as long as necessary at the same time as construction work on the site takes place.

The survey in the courtyard confirmed the existence of a cellar with an entrance corridor which was destroyed in the construction of the car workshop in 1976. Also found were remains of the founding of the former wooden barn and foundations for the demolished southern section of the current brick barn. A new discovery of interest is the existence of a huge peripheral wall on the western edge of the site. Previously, the wall had been hidden under the ground in backfill, and was likely very high in the past.
